1260, 1290, 1335  Days

There are a number of ideas relating to the twelfth chapter of Daniel and specifically to the verses of Daniel 12:7, 11 and 12.  That is where we find information about the "end time" and the 1260, 1290 and 1335 days.  This effort to explain the meaning of these periods of time is not meant to be "thus sayest the Lord" but a reasonable evaluation of the meaning of these numbers of days. So then, an appropriate place to begin is the verse that references the 1260 days.

Dan 12:7    And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the powerH3027 of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.

There are five items in this verse that are of certain importance.  The man that is described as "upon the waters" is clothed in "linen".  A relevant paper, "fine linen", reveals that angels are never described as clothed in "fine linen".  It will be a helpful point later on.  Next, "a time, times, and an half" is universally accepted by Biblical scholars as three and one half years or 1260 days.  Next, the word "power" principally means, power or means or direction.

H3027  A  primitive  word; a hand (the open one (indicating power, means, direction, etc.)

Very surprisingly, as will be discussed later, the end of the "means or direction" fits perfectly with the subject of the change in the axis of rotation of the earth.  In this case this axis change it is not so much relevant to a change of physical direction but of a resulting change in the exercise of power and the change in means or direction.  Next, we can ask; who are the "holy people"?    Finally "all these things" points to the twelfth chapter dealing with a full scope of events relating to the end times.  In regards to the "holy people" the following will enlighten us.

Deu 7:6    For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.  (speaking to all 12 tribes of Israel)

After the "house of Israel", the northern 10 tribes of Israel, were captured by the Assyrians they were eventual dispersed through the nations. In time, the ten tribes have coalesced to have individual national identities.  The United States of America is related to those tribes who are also known as "the lost ten tribes".

Gen 49:1    And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days

The history of the ten tribes is an extensive subject but it should be recognized that the "scattering of the power of the holy people" was NOT limited to the nation of Judah or the Jews only.

The principle subject of Daniel 12:7 is that those spoken of as Gods people will not possess the freedom or power to direct their own state of affairs.  This lack of freedom will last for 1260 days.  This period of 1260 days begins with the action taken as recorded in Daniel 9:27

Dan 9:27    And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week (after 3 1/2 years or 1260 days) he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

It should be noted that the term "tribulation", in the Bible, is used principally to reference the painful and tragic troubles caused by Satan.  Interestingly, in the Old Testament, that word is used only once in the NewKJV.  In the New Testament it is used 21 times with three of the times attributing the tribulation coming from God.  The various forms of the "wrath" of God are NEVER referred to as tribulation.  This point becomes very important when Matthew 24:29 is examined.  There is ample evidence that the principle part of God's church will not be subject to the troubles of the "end time" tribulation.  The following is an example of the evidence of the protection that the church will have during those 1260 days of tribulation.

Rev 12:14    And to the woman (God's church) were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time (1260 days), from the face of the  serpent

Notice, the church goes to a wilderness not heaven as so many believe.  It has always been a question of how the church would be protected.  It is evident that there will be a supernatural means of transport to the "place of safety".  It is a credible idea that the principle place would be Petra or its environs since the lands of ancient Edom, Moab and Jordan will not be occupied by aggressors.

Dan 11:36    And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.

Dan 11:41    He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon.

Isa 26:20    Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast

Isa 26:21    For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

Rev 19:17    And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;

It cannot be over emphasized that we have been shown that something of great importance will happen at the end of the 1260 days time frame.  It is the change of the earth's axis of rotation.  Matthew 24:29 gives the time of this change.

Mat 24:15    When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

Mat 24:16    Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

Mat 24:21    For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Mat 24:29    ImmediatelyG2112 after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

G2112  yoo-theh'-oce  Adverb from G2117; directly, that is, at once or soon: - anon, as soon as, forthwith, immediately, shortly, straightway.  Total KJV occurrences: 8

We see that right after that tribulation, 1260 days of tribulation as Daniel's reference points to, there will be a change in the axis of rotation of the earth.  The paper "The New Heaven and New Earth" gives the full details. That event will cause a very great loss to the peoples of the earth and particularly for those who are in charge.  We have become dependent, to an awesome degree, on the dissemination of information for the systems that the satellites support.  The satellites are going to be totally destroyed by that rotation.

An in depth article by Richard Hollingham; "What would happen if all satellites stopped working?" effectively describes the world wide effect

Remember, near the beginning of this paper, that I referenced "scatter the power of the holy people" and that the word power also had the meanings of "means or direction"?  That lack of the freedom of means and direction will depend, to a degree, on the information that will be assembled by those who will be in control.  In a way it could be likened to the great amount of information gathered by the Nazis on the Jews in the 30's and 40's.  The following is a brief statement, from a large paper by Robert McNamara, of the value of that information.

thoughtco.com/gestapo   The Gestapo: Definition and History of the Nazi Secret Police

By Robert McNamara

The Gestapo became obsessed with accumulating information.  When the Nazi Party rose to power in Germany, an intelligence operation aimed at any potential enemies became a vital part of the party apparatus.

In regard to Richard Hollingham's article: he spoke of the general disruption caused by an end of the satellites. We can see that with that chaos the captives will be able to, once again, find freedom.

Now we come to the 1290 days. The very interesting thing about this next number is that even though it is of great importance there is nothing in the verse that shows its purpose.

Dan 12:11    And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.

Daniel 12:7 is in reference to the" holy people".  That would be in reference to a relatively large number of people.  From Daniel 12:10 on the number of people that are referenced narrows greatly.  Daniel 12:10 states that, "many shall be purified, and made white, and tried".  This is a direct reference to the spiritual growth of the saints, not to the general numbers of the "holy people".

Dan 12:9    And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.

Dan 12:10    Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

So then, what would be the next great event that would warrant a number being 30 days longer than the 1260 days of the "beast's" reign?  Since the previous verse gave the "saints" relevance, the next significant event would be the resurrection of all the elect.  The two witnesses did their work for 3 1/2 years and were dead, in the street, for 3 1/2 days.  They were then resurrected; now consider carefully the wording in Revelation 11:14.

Rev 11:12    And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.

Rev 11:14    The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quicklyG5035.

G5035   takh-oo'   Neuter singular of G5036 (as adverb); shortly, that is, without delay, soon, or (by surprise) suddenly, or (by implication of ease) readily: - lightly, quickly.

The word "quickly" does not convey the urgency of the word "Immediately" in Matthew 24:29. The following gives an example of a significant period of time.

Rev 22:7    Behold, I come quicklyG5035: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. .

Following the words of Mat.24:29;  "Immediately after the tribulation of those days"--------"

Mat. 24:30 becomes very relevant, especially when the information of Rev. 14:14&15 is added to that verse.  These three verses give credence to the idea that the resurrection would be the next significant event.

Mat 24:30    And thenG5119 shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Mat 24:31    And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

G5119    tot'-eh    From (the neuter of) G3588 and G3753; the when, that is, at the time that (of the past or future, also in consecution): - that time, then.

Rev 14:14    And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

Rev 14:15    And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.

The word "then" becomes a very important word that greatly helps with understanding the time line.  With the help of Strong's we are able to see that the word "then" is of an indefinite period of time.  Revelation 14:14-15 gives the evidence that "the Son of man coming in the clouds" of Mat.24:30, comes to reap (harvest) the elect.  The elect will be resurrected by Jesus as he sits on a cloud.  This will be the fulfillment of the third Holy Day.  We should take notice that Pentecost is described in Numbers and Exodus as a harvest of the first fruits.

Num 28:26    Also in the day of the firstfruits, when ye bring a new meat offering unto the LORD, after your weeks be out, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work:

Exo 34:22    And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's end.

The saints are referred to as "firstfruits" by James.  As firstfruits, the saints will be harvested at the allotted time.

Jas 1:18    Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

It is reasonable to think that that the word "then" would point us to the resurrection, which would be 30 days from the end of the 1260 days of tribulation.

A very interesting piece of information is that counting 1290 days back from the Pentecost of the resurrection of the saints to the "beast" setting up the abomination of desolation brings the time to about the time of the Feast of Tabernacles.  There are those that feel the sacrifice of animals, at the temple, will become intolerable to many. It will be seen as animal cruelty. There are more animals sacrificed during the Feast of Tabernacles that at any other time of the Old Testament theological year.  There will be 189 bulls, rams, lambs and goats killed during the seven days of the feast.  The "beast" could take advantage of the sentiment and condemn the need for sacrifices.  Through the false prophet's miracles the world is deceived and this time of animal sacrifices may be an appropriate period for the beast to declare himself to be God.

Rev 13:14    And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

2Th 2:4  "------  sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God".

The paper "From Pentecost to Teruah" gives the evidence that the resurrection of the first fruit will be on Pentecost.

This may be a good time to try to analyze how the terms "prophets", "saints" and "elect" would relate to one another.  It may well be that the prophets and the elect will all be considered saintsG40  at the time that Jesus descends to rule.

Mat 24:31    And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Rev 16:4    And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood.

Rev 16:5    And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus.

Rev 16:6    For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.

Jud 1:14    And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousandsG3461(myriad) of his saintsG40

G40 From ἅγος hagos (an awful thing) compare G53, [H2282]; sacred (physically pure, morally blameless or religious, ceremonially consecrated): - (most) holy (one, thing), saint.

Now we should consider the evidence that shows us the four specific things that will occur between the resurrection of the saints and Jesus return to rule the earth.  First would be that those who had gotten victory over the beast sing the song of Moses and the song of the Lamb as they stand on the "sea of glass".  The angels are never spoken of as getting "victory over the beast" or overcoming the world in any way.

1 John speaks of one who is "born of God", not begotten of God.  The difference is that being born of God means that one has become a spirit being and a member of the family of God.

1Jn 5:4    For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

1Jn 5:18   We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

Rev 15:1    And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.

Rev 15:2    And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.

Rev 15:3    And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.

The second is, the prophets and the saints are given their reward.  It is important to notice that the context of all of these verses occur in "heaven".

Rev 11:15    And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

Rev 11:18    And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judgedG2919 ( to distinguish), and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

Rev 11:19    And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

The third would be the pouring out the seven bowls of the wrath of God.

Rev 16:1    And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.

And the fourth will be the marriage of the Son of God to his wife.  This IS a time of "teruah" (very great shouting) and the fulfillment of the fourth Holy Day.  See the paper "Day Of Teruah" commonly known as "Feast of Trumpets"

Lev 23:24    Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets  (H8643   terû‛âh), an holy convocation.

Rev 19:6    And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.

Rev 19:7    Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

Then the "KING OF KINGS" descends to the earth with his bride.

Rev 19:11    And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war

Rev 19:14    And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

Rev 19:15   And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

Rev 19:16    And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

It is imperative to recognize that the term "fine linen" is allocated to the saints and not to the angels.

The four things, that were outlined, occur between Pentecost and culmination of the wrath of God which will be on the Day of Atonement.  This is a 120 day or four month period of time.  When one examines the nature of the effects of the bowls of wrath and the other occurrences, it is not unreasonable to think that these four particular things will happen within the four months.

Lastly, the 1335 days of Daniel 12:12 give a clue that is very helpful.

Dan 12:12    Blessed is he that waitethH2442 (tarries), and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.

This period of time is 45 days past the 1290 days.  With the resurrection occurring at the time of the 1290 days there are two notable events left that are spoken of in the Bible that relate to the prophets and the saints. The rewards are given out and the marriage of the Lamb occurs.  Only one of them would qualify as occurring at the time of the 1335 days. The marriage happens after Rev.19:2 and would be too near the later part of the four months, being the fulfillment of the fourth Holy Day.

Rev 19:2    For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.

Daniel 12:12 states; that those who come to the 1335 days are "blessed".  The prophets and the saints are blessed when they receive their rewards.  And as has been previously confirmed, this blessing does occur in heaven

As I mentioned at the beginning of this consideration, this understanding of these numbers of days seem reasonable.
