When Is Christ Our Passover?
1 Corinthians 5:7 clearly tells us that the Christ is our Passover.
1Co 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
I would think that it would be important to know when he will be our passover.
It can't be at our baptism as some may think. The idea of once saved always saved is not a true belief. The following verses clearly tell us that the Spirit of God that may be given to a person may also be lost by that person. There are verses that show us David didn't want God to take God's Spirit from him. But I have seen the evidence that God will never take His Spirit away from a person who has been baptized, hands laid on them, received His Spirit and tasted of the heavenly gift. There are those that can be assured that they have "tasted" the fruit of the blessings of God's Spirit as Paul did.
2Ti 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
Though it is my understanding, in the final analysis, God determines if a person has or has not "tasted" that fruit. Yet if a person quenches that Spirit or disregards God and his ways after receiving God's Spirit, the result will be God's Spirit leaving that person.
Heb 2:1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
Heb 2:2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward;
Heb 2:3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
Heb 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
Heb 6:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
Heb 6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
Heb 10:26 For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, their remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
1Th 5:19 Quench not the Spirit.
Christ being our "passover" won't be involved with the resurrection of the first fruit. There is no threat of death that must be passed over. In fact for those that are alive at the resurrection will leave a physical life for a spiritual life. Those first fruit in the grave had the promise of life at their resurrection and would be exempt from the threat of death needing a passover. There are two verses that help explain when the Passover of Jesus the Christ will occur.
Rev 2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. (speaking to the first fruit)
Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
We are not “saved” by personally accepting the sacrifice of Jesus. We are not saved by having Gods spirit dwelling in us. As we have seen that spirit can be quenched. It will only be those who are found in the book of life on the 8th day who will be saved. It will only be those who have accepted the sacrifice of Christ, and in whom Christ will be living at the time of the second death, who will be saved. Those who will have the Spirit of God living in them on the 8th day will be passed over from being thrown into the lake of fire. If we have Jesus living in us He will be our passover.
The first fruit will have the spirit of God living in them at the time of the 8th day and will be in the "book of life". Revelation 20:6 clearly states that they will not be hurt by the second death. And they will have had the Spirit of God dwelling in them for over 1000 years. These last two verses seem to take on special significance at this juncture.
1Jn 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
In the above verses we see that the first fruit will be sinless at the time of the 8th day and the word "whosoever" shows us they are included in the book of life.
